At polling stations in Nigeria, there is a simple but important step before a ballot box is put into use: the empty box is shown to those present and then secured with a security seal. This procedure is also clearly stated in the election officials’ manual published by INEC. A small seal does not handle voting or count ballots. Its job is straightforward—to make sure that what needs to be sealed stays properly sealed. Based on this practical requirement, our long-term Nigerian partner once again customized a batch of election security seals from us.

This security seal features an adjustable long-tail design. It can be pulled tight and locked after passing through the locking hole, without the need for additional tools. The bright red and black colors make the seals easy to identify on site. The large marking area can be customized with organization names and sequential serial numbers, giving each seal its own unique “ID number.” Once the seal is cut or damaged, its original condition changes visibly, making it easier to check whether the sealed item has remained intact. These seals can be used on ballot boxes and election material boxes, helping with sealing, identification, and number verification during storage and handover. Small in size, but certainly not small in responsibility.
